Terms of Use

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Services provided by Standard Medicine AB ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

We may update these Terms from time to time; the version posted on the Site applies when you use the Services. If your organisation has a separate written agreement with us ("Service Agreement"), that agreement governs to the extent of any conflict.

Our Privacy Policy describes how we process personal data and cookies. Contact: [email protected]

2. Definitions

  • Account: your registered user account, if any.
  • Content: information made available through the Services, including AI-generated outputs.
  • Services: the Site and related functionality.
  • Site: https://www.standardmedicine.com and associated subdomains.

3. The Services

The Services are an AI-assisted search tool that identifies, retrieves, and summarises publicly available medical literature, guidelines, and scientific articles. The Services index publicly available scientific literature and guidelines and direct you to the original sources. We do not host or republish full-text third-party works; summaries are pointers to primary sources, which you should consult directly.

3.1 Intended purpose

The Services are a general-purpose scientific search and information-retrieval tool. Their function is limited to identifying, retrieving, and summarising publicly available scientific literature. The Services are not intended to analyse patient-specific data or to provide clinical decision support, triage, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations, and are therefore not intended to function as a medical device.

3.2 Not medical advice

Content is for information and learning only and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You remain solely responsible for all clinical decisions and for consulting primary sources and local policies.

3.3 No patient data

Do not input personal or patient-identifiable data; use anonymised queries only. We apply automated measures designed to discourage and reduce such input, but you remain responsible for not submitting it.

3.4 AI-generated output

Search results and summaries are generated by artificial intelligence as a statistical synthesis of third-party scientific texts. They do not represent the opinion, verification, or medical judgment of Standard Medicine AB.

3.5 Availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that Content is complete, accurate, or current. Internet access and a compatible device are required.

3.6 AI inputs and outputs

Queries you submit ("Input") and AI-generated results ("Output") are your responsibility. Because of how AI works, Output may be inaccurate or incomplete and may resemble results shown to other users; you assume the risk of relying on it and must verify against the primary sources. You may not use the Services or Output to build or train a competing model, or attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or distill the underlying models, including via prompt-injection or model-extraction techniques.

4. Eligibility

The Services are intended for healthcare professionals and students. Before accessing the Services you must confirm that you are a licensed healthcare professional or a student in a relevant field. You must be legally capable of entering a contract and must comply with all applicable laws when using the Services.

5. Accounts and Security

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and notify us promptly of any unauthorised use or security incident. You are responsible for activity under your Account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • violate laws, third-party rights, or these Terms;
  • input personal or patient-identifiable data;
  • defame, harass, or transmit harmful code;
  • access the Services other than through our published interfaces;
  • scrape, mine, harvest, or bulk-export Content;
  • monitor performance or availability for competitive purposes, or build a competing product;
  • resell, sublicense, or redistribute results except as expressly permitted.

You must not use the Services as a diagnostic tool, to confirm a diagnosis, or as a substitute for reviewing the full-text primary source. We may suspend or terminate access for suspected violations.

7. Automated Access and Scraping

Automated access (including scraping, crawling, or harvesting) is prohibited without our prior written consent. Search engines permitted in our robots.txt may crawl solely for indexing; if permission is revoked, previously retrieved data must be deleted.

8. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Services and Content belong to us or our licensors. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Services for your professional or educational internal use. You may not copy, modify, create derivative works from, or remove notices from the Services. Feedback you provide may be used by us without restriction.

8.1 Text and data mining

We operate in compliance with Article 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/790, indexing content for scientific information retrieval, and we respect machine-readable opt-outs (e.g., robots.txt) from rights holders. Where Content links to third-party sources, those works remain the property of their respective rights holders and are subject to their own terms.

9. Third-Party Services

The Services may link to or integrate third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party content, terms, or policies.

10. Disclaimers

The Services and Content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

As a search tool, the AI may fail to index relevant papers or may misinterpret the context of an abstract. Such occurrences are technical indexing limitations, not medical inaccuracies or advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for (a) indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or (b) loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business. Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Services, breach of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights.

13. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately for breach, suspected misuse, legal risk, or discontinuation of the Services. On termination, your licence ends and you must stop using the Services.

14. Privacy and Cookies

Personal data is processed as described in our Privacy Policy. Non-essential cookies are set only with your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time via Cookie settings.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Swedish law.

16. Changes and Contact

We may update these Terms; the "Last updated" date reflects the latest version. Questions or complaints: [email protected]. We aim to resolve complaints through discussion.
